My Editor at NewsChannel9.com/Outdoors says, "Just as the swallows return to Capistrano every year, outdoors correspondent Richard Simms returns to South Dakota every year." This year good friends Ed McCoy, Al Rogers and Mark Hydas joined me. Travel along vicariously in this Photo Gallery at: https://bit.ly/SDPhotoGallery

Brings back memories of my yearly hints in North Dakota. Totally different experience hunting up there than in the south. We started around 1994, and pretty much every place we found birds we got permission to hunt. By 2000, most of the land was leased up, so we started spending a few days up in Canada. Food and lodging was cheap cheap cheap up there! A two bedroom house was $13/night and anyplace we ate out was half what it would have been in the US. Oftentimes we'd just strike up a conversation with someone and end up at their dinner table.

Good times.
