Daddy got a Sako 6mm PPC and is lookin at the 45X Leupold for 100,200 and 300 Yards for group and for score,

have you ever had to just quit for the mirage he was lookin at the 12-42 Nightforce but I think he wants the 45 Leupold,,you think he needs to step down to the 40 or the 35,,45X seems like a lot of scope but he wants the most he can get and not have major problems with it,,,I know there will be some mirage at 200 yards but I think he could learn to shoot through it,

would you go with the 12-42 to be able to crank down or go with the Big Leupold,,

May be the greatest gunsmith of all time and winner of the Super Shoot in 2000, Dwight Scott straightened me out on optics and mirage. Very simple actually. Lowering magnification is no help, mirage is still there you just cannot see it as well. He uses the higher power scopes. I listened and have had no issues with either a 40 or 45x Leupold Comp model. I do prefer the 40x for 1 reason its slightly wider fov allows me to pick up wind flags easier.

thanx I will pass it on and let ya know how it shoots when we get the brass worked out,,it should be a shooter but we will see,,
