The pine plantation is well managed with low tree numbers per acre and burned every 2 years. We already have 600 acres or so of warm season grasses between the pines on this property.
It would be nice if we could add some supplemental plantings, but this clearing will be the main compressor station supplying our local power plant with natural gas from the pipeline.... from what I've heard, those compressor stations are LOUD! I'm sure the deer will get used to it eventually, but I dont think the electric company is going to let us near the compressor station with high-power rifles to hunt.
