Hey all, so went hunting with the bow this evening and took a shot at a nice buck. He came in hot nose to ground as two younger bucks had come in chasing a doe 5 minutes prior. The shot happend very quickly and at a bad angle. I got the buck to stop right below me at about 10 yards. I retrieved the arrow about 50yrds away. The shaft had little blood, and seemed to be covered in fat. The fins however were coved in dark red. I walked in the direction the buck had run and he was on his feet moving away. Found good blood where I last saw him and backed off for longer. Continued the search finding a mixture of small blood drops mixed with large areas here and there. The trail has since went cold Any idea if it's a fatal wonder or placement? Thanks.

Really starting to think I hit the brisket. The blood trail was solid for a few hundred yards then became sparse then almost non existent. Will search like a dog in the morning, but feeling bad about this one in every way.

Fat on the arrow in my experience is not good. I have lost deer in the same situation. I sure hope you find him. Good luck!!

This has been my experience with deer shot in the brisket. Hope you find otherwise in the morning.
