Drove 5 states, Tn, MS, AL, GA, SC to retrieve wat I consider the nicest old lathe I could find.

South Bend Heavy 10 1.5" hole thru headstock, 6 drawers full of tooling, to hopefully supplement my adjusted income from the downed economy, heck I have 5 blanks needing a chamber and several setbacks to be done, this thing will pay for itself.

The sweet wife even let me bring it indoors!!!

I`ve just gotta learn how to use it now!!!

That's awesome. If you were closer to Nashville my uncle could show you everything you'd ever want to know about using it but I bet you know more about it than you're letting on :)

I had the worse luck one time returning a rifle to a guy from a small Tennessee town, where the postal service employees know the laws. Here you walk in and nothing but Democrats and are real glad to tell a Republican, no suh you cant sen dat.

Fortunately I have much in the way of practice material, but thanks.

I hear ya,he's been trying to turn me into a machinist for years but i just don't have the patience or time but i have watched him do some amazing things to guns that would be pretty cool to learn/know.

I`m litterally learning how to do the very basic stuff. I had to call someone earlier because the lead screw was not engaged. It was a simple fix, and well learned. The thread gauge was not turning also, I loostened the gauge and pushed it into the threads on the lead screw and presto. I`m diggin it.....

I have tooling to buy, as this came out of a shop where the guy used it for an occasional part. Not set up for chambering, but I have a good friend who told me about Carmex and the carbide tooling. I also want a different tool holder. This one is old school South Bend Lantern style. I also knew where I was going and bought a .0001" gauge that I need a way to hold it. This will be used for setting the barrel up to chamber.

could you chamber the 700 Mag action for the 300 Norma and have the throat cut to fit the 230 Berger Hybird to mag length and touch the lands,

I probably need to order the 8 twist 30 cal bbl now,
