Has any one received anything in the mail yet regarding the hatchie Quota Hunt? I know they have done the draw but i can't find a list of successful applicants and have not seen on here where someone was drawn. Any information would be helpful!

I spoke with a Hatchie NWR employee and she said the notices were mailed out this week. She has the list of successful applicants if you want to call and inquire (731-772-0501). She also stated that the results would no longer be made available online because too many people were calling and complaining about the same "names" being drawn year after year after year. She went on to explain how the draw was purely random and the public drew the names and there was no bias in the process. She and I both agreed that not making the results available online was a step backward, but someone more senior than her made that decision, so she had no bearing on it. I hope this helps.

thanks Andy S. i called the office and was drawn again. last year i got drawn and it was the first time i hunted the quota hunt. on the last day on the way out I locked in some gps points on my garmin (large rub lines and scrapes) hoping that hunting off one of these coordinates and prior experience will contribute to success this year. last year i was shut out on quota hunt, but i did bag a doe on during archery. the biggest problem is i was drawn for another quota hunt on the same weekend in oak ridge! decisions decisions

Just a reminder that Hatchie NWR as well as Reelfoot NWR have started the Earn-A-Buck regulation this year whereby you have to take an antlerless deer before you can kill an antlered one. I just hope it doesn't significantly reduce the deer numbers like it has on the Tennessee NWR. :bash:

....... I think I'm going to skip it this year in favor of hunting Mzl elsewhere. I like the years where the first hunt precedes Mzl season.
This is exactly why I didn't apply this year (although I helped others apply). I knew I would not go to Hatchie with the dates conflicting with statewide MZer.
