Sometimes it isn't the motor that fails, but rather the electronics on the circuit card on the bottom. I have on occasion been able to replace the electronics card with one from the exact same drive and been able to get the data off. I have a stack of old and failed drives, if you send me info on your drive, I will see if I have one that you could swap the electronics on. I write code for a living, after losing a project due to a power outage, I have UPS and a raid server for backups that run automatically. Cheap insurance for me.
