Fellow Hunters is it a slow season or is it just me? Opening Day I saw 3 shooter bucks. Could not pinpoint a precision shot so passed on all 3 opportunities. I did harvest a nice mature 7 point cull buck on the 2nd morning. Since that time the 3 of us have not seen another buck worth harvesting. We are seeing the usual small 6 pt, 4 pt, and spikes. Since opening weekend it appears even our Does have gone undercover. What Does we do see have yearlings with them and don't appear near their Estrus Cycle.

Our lack of sightings is despite we have a strong mix of heavy acorns and corn fields that usually attract an abundance of deer in the evening PM hunts. This year they ate the corn early and have not returned. Far cry from years past.

Question? Are the deer that locked up in the timber eating acorns ? I realize the warm weather is not helping but this year is turning into a disappointment.

Anybody else seeing it differently?
