I've been working on an old P17 Enfield for the past little bit and have redone the stock including bedding the action and floorplate. I've added a new buttplate. It received a new Timney trigger. I've been waiting for my health to improve after a bad Fall and Winter so I could go to the range and give it a try. Today was the day. I had some old 30/06 loads so I pulled the bullets from them and reseated the bullets 0.010 off the lands for this rifle. I don't think I'm going to have to go much farther to find a load this rifle likes. Here's what she did. I'm proud of her.

That rifle has definitely made my day. I shot 4 or 5 shots getting it zeroed and then that 5 shot group was the first and only group I fired with the rifle. I quit right there and went on to another rifle I wanted to shoot. Later I've got some 150 grain bullets loaded with various powder charges to try but I'm going to have trouble leaving that load. I've not checked the velocity with a chronograph but my shoulder says that 165 gr. Ballistic tip is substantially hotter than the Winchester 168 gr. factory ammo I sighted in with. Another day....some more fun.

Tim....the BRX is coming along and hopefully will make it's debut later this month at Oak Ridge. I broke down and sprung for a 15 lb. bag of the heavy sand and got a better rear bag for it. My good rest is set up for the BRX and I had to just shoot the 30/06 off an ammo box with a sandbag on top and my old rear rest. I'm tinkering with a factory Remington 223 right now and hope to do some shooting at a local shoot down in Georgia that draws 12 or 15 shooters. Down there I think I can be a big frog in a little pond whereas at Oak Ridge I'm a spring peeper among bullfrogs.

 and Congrats. Feels good to burn powder after a lay off even better with a group or groups like that.
