Well I finished up my work duties today and prior to me getting after my house chores I decided to drive by a spot I have on the way home to see if one wanted to play. I walked in about 100 yards to the timber and yelped softly for one series...no answer. So I turned the volume up for another series on the Bahama Mama mouth call...faint gobble 300 yards! I moved quickly to cut the distance between me and him and when I made it about 100 yards closer I liked the look of the setup. I could get into some thick brush with some more open timber out between my 9 o'clock and my 12 o'clock. Also there was a small hump that fell off to the creek bottom I thought he was in. I felt comfortable with the position so I decided to cutt at him to get a read on his distance...THUNDER at 60 yards!!! I immediately dropped to the first tree behind me and a few seconds later I see movement. Hold steady, wait for the right opening, steady now...BANG FLOP at 20 yards! I believe had I not shot him he would have ran me over! The whole scenario took around 10 minutes start to finish...whew what a workout lol.
