This is one section tva just got done clearing on the lease I'm on. They are putting in a 9 mile long new power line and alot of it is cutting through our lease. I know it's freshly done, and there is no browse or cover in it yet, but it looks so inviting to hunt. And I didn't really have a good stand that I was confident in hunting this afternoon due to a NW wind. There are fresh deer tracks all through it. So we shall see.

I had a guy who logged for a living tell me that the best place to hunt was a newly cut logging road. For some reason, any place that is newly cleared - deer love it. I think you picked a good spot.

I think I'm gonna like this. This power line is gonna open up alot of the lease and create more hunt able spots. That is if the locals don't road hunt it to death.

Would make a pretty good plot if that's legal

Right up until they spray it from a helicopter. We had something similar in Stewart county years ago. Whatever that stuff is they spray...it will kill a rock.

If you'll keep it cut they won't stay it.

Looks good.

I love hunting hardwood ridges, but every now & then I'll hunt the power lines on are lease that looks like that surrounded by thick pine thickets. lots of deer killed outta them power poles around here.

I like hunting power lines... if they keep them cut. I think ours is supposed to be on a 5 year cutting program but they're about 4 years overdue now.

I would be hunting just inside the woodline. I have found they like to stay 30 to 50 yards inside the woodline around new clearcuts. Also, if you know where the trails used to be in the cut, they will still use them even though the trees are gone.
