Anyone on here recommend a particular Gunsmith around the Chattanooga area, before I just randomly choose one? Bought a used shotgun and I can not get the choke out. I took the gun apart to do a deep inspection and clean up. I found it to be very clean and looks to be well taken care of, in short of the choke being stuck. I have been spraying some kroil penetrating oil on it the past 24 hours to see if I can break it loose. No luck so far. I do not have the proper tools to prevent gaulding up the barrel or choke to really get on it.

I'd stand it up in your penetrating lubricant of choice for 24 hours, freeze it, then run a little heat on the outside of the barrel at the threads. The barrel metal should expand faster than the choke and break the rust loose.

Is it a flush choke or extended?

Extended. I considered standing it up in some penetrating lube...is there any concern that it would ruin the factory camo on barrel?

Not sure about the oil soak but a camo dip knocks out any heat source besides maybe a hair dryer.

If it's a 12ga with notches for a choke tube wrench I help you get it out. I have a choke tube wrench that you put a 3/8 drive ratchet in. PM. Me if you like im in soddy. I'm not a gunsmith just offering free help

If you're not in love with the choke, I'd put the barrel in a vise (cushioned with a towel) and vise grips on the choke and start lightly tapping the vise grips with a hammer.

Thanks for the offer as I am in Soddy also. However, the good news is I was able to remove the choke today after about a 20 hour soak in the penetrating oil. Barrel and choke all cleaned up great.
Now the gun is ready to go pattern in preparation of turkey season. Giving it a try for a 1st.

Make sure to put some anti seize on the tube before putting it back in.

This x2. Scrub the rust out of the threads too. Breech plug grease goes on the threads every time I pull a choke out.
