would like your guys opinions on purchasing a gun safe...easiest one that comes to mind in the Red Head ones from Bass Pro...are those of good quality? any help would be greatly appreciated..
I bought what I think was one of the very best about 20 years ago when I got a Fort Knox Executive Series 36 gun fireproof model. The cost was painful - $2,300 - and that was in 1992. But I can sleep soundly knowing that my guns are safe. It's 6ft tall and 36inches wide and weighs 975lbs empty.
I really never looked much at other brands so can't say how they compare.
I got a liberty and love it. Keep a look out at Gander mtn i got mine last year on sale its a 64 gun safe fire rated i think for 45min got it for 1500 well worth the money.
Some safes have lower burn times than others...some safes have more locking bolts than others and some have locking bolts on two sides rather than one...I've been looking at this one made by Fireking mostly because they also make safes for storing valuable recorded data like "tape backup cartridges" for your computer system.
I looked for about a year and a half and ended up with a Sturdy Safe. They don't do a lot of advertising but I have been more than happy with mine and they have a huge amount of safe info available on their website. The only mistake I made was buying one too small. Its funny how you want to fill all those empty slots every time you look in it.

Go to Tractor Supply and look at their Cannon safes. BY far, TSC has the best prices and about twice a year those prices get unbelievably cheaprelatively speaking of course. I bought my 24-gun fire-proof Cannon last year on sale for $599 and the next month it was on sale for $499 for like 2 months.
Tractor Supply runs good sales on Winchester and Cannon safes. Liberty saves are good quality especiality in high end models.
There is a safe dealer in Shelbyville with quality safes. I do not know his pricing.
Delivery costs can be very high from some dealers so be sure to check on that.
Tractor supply is where I bought my cannon 48 gun safe. On black Friday just about every year, they mark it down from $999 to $699. I really like mine.
I bought a Yukon Gold, made by Browning a couple years ago from SW, and I really like it. It's the 6' model, and having that extra foot of space at the top is really handy for lots of stuff. About 1500.00 plus tax I believe.
I bought a Champion Safe from J Floyds Golf and Guns in Sevierville and traded two shotguns in for $500 off of the $1000 dollar price. It's a really good safe.
I have a Browning Silver SR42F. Love it! 6 foot tall, so I have alot of storage up top. Best thing is the extra storage of guns on the door. I think they have a patent on it, but not sure.
