Gulf oil spill

Kill it. plain and simple where the oil comes ashore. In the pockets where it doesn't hit it might be OK.

Redfish main diet is the small crabs and shrimp in the spartina grass flats . The entire food chain will be distrupted for years in the areas that are hit.

Only hope is the bulls have moved off shore after the breeding and won't be effected deep down where they hang out in the summmer. The 1-5 year old ones are toast.

Sad but what is this country to do? I don't want to depend on foreign oil as much as the next guy. however what ticks me off is the number of land based oil wells capped off and just waiting for the price to go higher so they become operational again.

BTW. Why isn't terroism being considered in this? IF they will blow up an airplane, why not blow up an oil rig in the gulf and ruin an entire ecosystem, and get all the bleeding hearts opposed to getting our own oil.

Some believe this was in fact an act of terrorism.

Gulf Oil Rig was Torpedoed

Next questions include:

1) Was this home-grown terrorism of the Bill Ayers variety?
------- or -------
2) Was this an act of international terrorism?
------- or -------
3) Both?

Too scary...consequences could be horrifying.... :(
Sorry, not meaning to misdirect thread :)

Some will believe anything if it'll keep them from having to accept that "drill baby drill" might not be as perfectly safe as the sales pitches have claimed.

Looks like a blowout preventer failure and an uncontrolled natuaral gas release/ignition to me. I'm surprised that pretty much nobody in the news has pointed out that it's almost exactly the same as what happened in the Ixtoc blowout in 1979, which was the largest oil spill in history until Saddam blew the Sea Island terminal into the Persian Gulf in the first Gulf War.

History repeating itself - offshore drilling was being called "safe" before that blowout too.
