I do believe this has been one of the best rabbit seasons I've ever had and I actually rabbit hunted less than I ever have. It wasn't the quanity of hunts but rather the quality and the awesome folks I got to hunt with or run with.

It started in September at the FC only trial at Wayne County BC. Got to meet some awesome folks and watch some awesome dogs run. IT was hot and everyone did a great job to make it fun and keep the dogs safe from the heat.

From there I got to start some pups that I am very happy with. No doubt the best group of puppies I've ever dealt with. I've had a blast messing with them all winter and now have four more that are ready to go running as well. Guess my spring will be busy with 8 young dogs.

I got to see some darn good dogs run at a few trials this year as well, which is always a plus, whether mine or other folks'.

As I said, I didn't gun to much as I was messing with pups all winter but when I did, it was good.

Back in January, I got to go to east Georgia with the SouthernBeagles crew and we hunted a day with Aubrey Holcombe (AKA Daddy Rabbit) who is an ARHA HOF member. Always wanted to meet him and I wasn't dissapointed. We hunted in so-so conditions but managed 8 rabbits with our two packs.

Hunting with one HOF member is great but then I got the chance to hunt over an AKC HOF member's pack in Georgia as well. I felt blessed to be invited to such a hunt in and of itself but to get to actually hunt with and over Ronnie Kilgore's pack was something I'll never forget. It was a great experience and I think there was a couple of FC's in that bunch. They did an awesome job. I was impressed with those little bitches and the one male that SouthernBeagles owns which was a littermate to some of those bitches I believe. I even to got to shoot two rabbits over them. I can't say thanks enough to the Rosser's for inviting me and for Ronnie coming down to hunt with us also. I sincerely hope we can do it again one day.

I know the picture of Ronnie was posted here sometime back.

After running pups and going to a few more trials around home, I got to go on one more awesome hunt to close out the year. I didn't want to go because it was to dang hot but I'm glad I did. We got to hunt some of the best rabbit habitat I've ever seen. A mixture of swampers and hillbillies. Dogs did good considering it was 60 degrees at daylight and dry. Got to hunt with some awesome folks with some great dogs that last Sunday in Morgan CO, AL. Man I've put some miles on my truck to run dogs this year.

We shot 11 by 11:30 on Sunday to close out gun season in that river bottom. Got hot and we all were wore out by lunch.

Seems every year gets better and better with the great folks I run and hunt with. Beaglers can be the great friends in the world. That's the one great thing I have always brought back from any trials I attend is the great people and the ton of knowledge I get to be around.

Now looking forward to our March trial and possibly attending the Nationals. That would be icing on the cake.

We ended up around 150 rabbits. About half of what our good years used to be. We didnt hunt near as much though, we used to be able to rabbit hunt during deer season but not anymore, so we have to wait for late December when deer hunters arent really going anymore. Ended the season with a pack of 5 6month old dogs that are running like crazy, running right with and sometimes ahead of our older dogs so the future is bright anyway.

Glad to hear you had a great year. I spent this season training some pups and they have turned out great. Didn't start shooting any until Feburary. Didn't even take a gun first part of the season. Nothing like listening to the music of the dogs........ Congrats
