Gravel Roads

My beagle has a hard time tracking rabbits in the wide open or in a gravel road. Like she is trailing a rabbit and it crosses a gravel road or something,she almost loses it.I just don't get it..Anyone else ever notice it with their beagles? Or is mine the exception?

Ive seen them have trouble on paved roads , but they should know to go to the opposite side and check up and down the road for the crossing point.

I hunt with an older guy. It seems his dogs can track nearly anywhere.
