I'm looking for a GPS to get my dad for Christmas. He will use it almost exclusively for fishing. Just need to be able to easily mark and input waypoints and navigate to them. He is NOT very technologically savy, so ease of use will outweigh lots of cool functions. Any suggestions?

I assume that he doesn't have a smart phone - is that right?

Another option is to use a smartphone app like Trimble's GPS Fish.

The upside to phone-based systems is that they have lots of on-screen help, high-res graphics, and have more features because of all the options with touch screens. The downsides are battery life, having "all your eggs in one basket", and data plan costs with smartphones. Fortunately, the GPS in the phone works even if there is no cell signal.

Best of luck!
