I've got a .223 in the gen 2 Ruger. Had to swap mag wells out but other than that it's a tack driver and I'm pleased with it for the price.
I'm working on a 77gr TMK load for it and it even shoots that heavy bullet great.

At my age, light weight flat shooting and a comfortable feeling gun to me. Very low recoil.
Yeah, I love low recoil. I took my old .243 and worked it up last year. It killed two mule deer and a pronghorn last year. So much more pleasurable to hunt and shoot. I put a suppressor on the .223 and it is flat out fun to shoot. No matter anyone's age, I'm a firm believer in low recoil now. I just shoot better.

I got the 6.5 for the same reasons. Didn't get to go out west this past season but hope too this season. Love the desert goat hunts.🤣

One of the many reasons a .243 will always be one of my favorites.
