Going after some crappie today

Guess man, his friend and I are gonna head to KY lake today and try to catch some crappie.

Been hearing reports of them being caught in the mats and bushes so we are gonna give it a shot.

I am sure if the action slows man will have the bass rod in his hand pretty quick though.

Well the area we went to, a new spot to me, was literally hundreds of mats.
I just don't think the crappie have moved into the mats in numbers yet.

Man's friend caught 2 keepers and I caught one dink.
Man and I caught 5 bass. I don't know their correct name but I call them yellow stripe bass.

Wind made it rough on man running the trolling motor too.
Had fun fishing but as for "catching" it wasn't much to it.

Good deal. Sometimes I just like being there. Catching is secondary. As far as I've ever heard Yellow Bass is what they are called. We call em yellow bellies too.

I have heard they are good eating but I have never tried one.

They sure did weigh in some big numbers there for that crappie USA tournament. Need to just follow them around. Lol

Yellow bass is their correct name. Cousins to stripers.

They taste good, similar to white bass.
