FYI reguarding Home Depot trees

Spoke to a garden center employee on Friday & he told me that some time this week that all trees left over from the spring would be 75% off the marked price. Quite a few fruit trees left at the Cool Springs location.

It is hard to be successful with these late purchased trees unless you can mulch and water them regularly. Last summer I bought a HD Calloway crab apple tree and put it in a bigger pot for the summer and kept it at the house so I could water it. This past winter I moved it to my tree farm and planted it. It never leafed out this spring. Still, I'm going to swing by HD and see what they have - hope springs eternal.

Thanks for the tip. I went today and picked up a 6' Keiffer pear for $12 (half off). Now I need to re-pot it and keep it alive till winter.

Picked up 4 decent Keiffer pears %75 off! They still had a few left.

Found a 10' there today for $5.79,it didn't look really good though so I passed on it.
