Just keep after them. Turkeys are supposed to be "henned up" some in the early season. They wont fly down and run to you, but you can still kill them without Michael Waddel's gimmics.
But to answer your question, no, I've never tried it.
What these guys said. Never used one and don't plan on it. One of the best things I've found to kill a henned up gobbler is to head back in the general area they was roosting in about 9am and setup. Cluck and purr with occasional yelp about every 15min. As the morning goes on the hens will start to leave him and head out to nest. When he gets lonely he will alot of times head back to the roost area just to see if he can pick up a hen that got left behind. For me, henned up gobblers get killed between 11-2.
I used it last year on a bird and he flew down off the roost and sprinted about 75 yards in full strut to kick the crap out of it...only time I used it

hunted same ridge for the last 3 seasons. I have 7 acres bordered by large tracks of fields. these birds fly down from the same roost tree, to the same place not on my property and walk to the fields with 10 to 15 hens. I dont have permission there. last two years the flocks never busted up. could bust 1 on the roost but not what I have in mind. frustrated and looking for other options. just asked opinion on a type of decoy.
I am going to tell the story in another post, but a HUGE gobbler came strutting in and closed the last ten feet at a dead run and I got to watch him kick the daylights out of my brand new funky chicken for about 45 seconds. It was something out of Bruce Lee's "Wings of fury". I bought it because my buddy said he gets running turkeys overtime he used it. Saw it on sale and couldn't resist.
