Very heavy frost hear this morning in Giles county. Y'all think this will kill the oak blooms and we have no acorns?
In 2007, a year in which vegetation seemed to be 3 weeks a head of time, we had two maybe three frost in a row like this, in which that fall there was no mast. I remember the trees leaves turning black.
Hopefully this one frost will not kill everything. I think acorns contribute to a turkeys health throughout the year, not just fall, but even in winter and early spring, you will still kill gobblers with red oak acorns in their crop. I also think birds are heavier and healthier on years that we have good red oak acorns.
