When I was hunting on Tuesday I had a yearling fork horn walk by. At the time there were some squirrels making noise in the leaves, so I didn't think much of the rustling coming from one direction until the buck appeared.
After climbing down a couple hours later, I was walking around and found a fresh scrape where the buck had come from. The same tree has had scrapes the past couple years too. But I noticed a brown liquid pooled on a dry maple leaf in the scrape. Picked it up and sniffed, smelled like musky deer pee. I guess that's where he went on his tarsals? I put the leaf in a ziplock bag and now it's in the freezer. Might use it for an attractant some time, would y'all use it?
