Franklin County mountain hunters

It seems unfair to me that our season is over since the rut is just starting to get going good. Most of the state gets a month or more to hunt the rut and we dont even get 2 weeks. Wish they would extend season for us.

They were chasing hard what few times I got to go in late November/early December. Now that it's getting colder they might ramp back up, but I don't feel like I missed anything.

Thats good for you but for alot of people every year its the best right now. They did a study on it and killed some does after season a few years ago and most of the does were breed from dec 20 till way up in jan. Would just like to hunt the best part.

Saw some good chasing at franklin forest last week. Nice buck but he would not offer me a decent shot.

There isn't any deer in Franklin county anyway...everybody knows that.

bucks are dumping antlers and the does are bred. hunt season don't end, just deer.

I agree rubicon, it is really hot over there right now! The rut over that way is later than the Cowan area IMO and more in line with the AL rut. Seen several mature bucks locked down this weekend. Glad its over though! Some really nice bucks made it through with only Juvy hunt left. I know of a couple I can't wait to get pictures of next year!! I'm sure there will be some nice ones killed by the young hunters next weekend which is always nice to see.

Hey, I'm in the opposite situation--MZ doesn't open until the best time to hunt is over--but I do feel for you. And it does suck.
