Well I hate finding skulls. This one is a couple of years old. Pretty eaten up but was one heck of a buck.

I disagree. with all the rodent gnawing it's at least 2 years old.

Rodent gnawing isn't a promise as to age, but I agree with you that it's two years old. I would guess the skull was found in a shaded area. I found one with good color that was at least two years old.

I have picked up fresh sheds with that much gnawing. I have also picked up year-old sheds that were untouched.

Same here.
Last year I witnessed some rabbits almost totally eat up an average-sized 2 1/2-yr-old's antler in a couple days.

Regarding the antlers in question, that deer could have died early in the 2013 season (certainly didn't die during the past couple months), or it may have been protected from the sun since 2012 or even older.
