My brother shot and killed one on Tuesday evening but didn't have a good enough blood trail to find it. His hunting buddy found it this morning.

Do you all think this deer is still good? Last night was super chilly in Sumner county, and yesterday the high was in the mid 60's.

Thanks all for the feedback. He would have done the very opposite. It's why I've loved this forum now for 13 years.

There's really not much guess work in this....if he starts skinning it, he will know if the meat is bad....nature makes it very obvious.

If I think it's borderline, I don't gut it, I bone it out from the carcass. Meat does not spoil as fast as most people assume. However, it has been a long recovery, it needs to go straight to the freezer, and will need to be cooked promptly once thawed.

No that's too long, I wish it were cold enough but it's been warm this year
