fixed power scope

Anyone use a fixed power scope to deer hunt with?

I use a fixed 4x on my 30-30. I really like it, but I usually only carry that gun when I'm going to be in some thick stuff.

I have 2 Leupold 6x36mm and a 6x42mm and I really like them a lot,,

I have a fixed 6 on my 22/250. Seems about perfect on that rifle. I've kept fixed 4's on several lever actions over the years and no complaints here.

Honestly, if I could swap em straight across the board, I'd switch to fixed 6's on all my bolt guns. Close range shots haven't been a problem either.

Started deer hunting and continued hunting with a Leupold 6x scope on a 742. Never had a single issue for the years I used that set up.

Fixed 4x. I mostly hunt woods now and use the 1.75-5x. I couldn't imagine hunting in the woods with a 6x

Use to be said that 4x was a eastern scope and 6x was a western scope . This was before variable scopes got reliable.

My old Winchester mannlicher stocked model 70 in 30/06 has a 2.5 power Bausch and Lomb affixed with buehler base and mounts. It did me fine for Tennessee whitetail woods hunting.
