This 19 lb. Tom followed 3 hens into the field I was hunting about 7:30 am. He was about 45-50 yards away in full strut about 10 yards behind the hens. He never caught up!! A load of #5s out of a 3 1/2 in. 870 got in his way!!!

Congrats.......nice bird. 45-50 is a good distance . How did your pattern spread? Did any shots stray to the body?

When I skinned it there was about 6 or 8 pellit hits on the side of the bird. I aimed directly at his head with a scoped gun. I have a HS undertaker choke tube in this gun and was using Winchester Supreme 3 1/2 in. #5 shot.
