We are making the long drive back to Tn from our first ever elk hunt. We hunted 2nd season rifle in Unit 21 and 30. 4 of us went and 3 of us were able to fill our tags on nice bulls. I've never walked so much in my life and the scenery was absolutely beautiful! We heard several bugles each day and for a split second I felt like I was in the turkey woods. We are already talking about making another trip out west in 2020!

I'm not sure how accurate my phone is with he amount of steps taken and miles walked. I know that I have never walked/climbed that much the day I got my bull. The following day I had 2 blisters on my feet.

Very cool. Congrats on some nice animals. It looks like it warmed up a bit since I was out there during first rifle. It truly is a beautiful area that cannot be described or appreciated by pictures or words. Absolutely has to be experienced.

I'm hooked! The first day I heard my first bugle and almost got a shot off at a 4x4. He was too close to private and it was a poke so we backed out. It was everything I thought it would be and more. Pictures don't do it justice out there.

Trip was outrageous! Incredible views and yes the hike/climb in and out of the canyons was brutal for a fat flat lander.

Got checked by a very nice warden to make sure we was on the up and up.

I lost a backstrap and a tenderloin to a bear. Not much you could do about that. Gotta pay taxes I guess

Congrats.. Nothing like it , is it ? :) I loved it so much that I moved to CO this year :super:

This was your first elk hunt ? If so, you beat the odds considerably with yalls success percentage ! Was it a DIY hunt on guided ?

We went on a guided hunt with Mountain View Adventures. We hunted public land in 21 and 30. Hard hunting but it worked out! I can't wait to go back!

TN, Rhea,
21 and 30 are rough country for sure. I'm not saying it is the roughest out there but it definitely isn't any walk in the park. I feel I'm in pretty decent shape but it kicks my butt every time.
