I've killed deer bow hunting a "bad" wind. But then I have also been winded on a good wind when the deer circled around and ended up downwind.

It all depends on whether or not you care about educating the deer in a given area as to your hunting them?

Most of the area I hunt are fully wooded with multiple way the deer can travel. You just have to figure out Which way they are most likely to come from and hunt that wind. Not always fool proof though.
