My fiancé and I had gone to eat lunch and buy a new pair of running shoes for me and when we pulled back in there were 2 hens in my field and a couple in my neighbors. We went on inside and when she left a couple hours later I rode down the driveway with her to the mailbox. A longbeard and hen had just crossed the road to neighbors field so I walked back up the driveway while watching him. Ran inside and grabbed my Dawkins slate call. Stood at my garage door and made a call that he gobbled to so I ran back in, changed clothes, grabbed my gun, slate, and Swamp Boys sweet lips mouth call. Eased down to the fence and climbed over into the treeline. Looked at my watch and it was 4:35. At this point it's drizzling a little bit of rain and I see him behind my neighbors house so I call but nothing. Slate gets wet so I switch to the mouth call. Later I realized the hen was still with him and they start walking away back down toward the road. I started calling but he kept walking. Went to cutting hard since they were about to be gone and he turned and started easing my way. I let him get to 15 yards and let the 870 eat. Those 3 1/2" #5's flipped him backwards like a rock. Looked at my watch again and it was 5:09. Didn't notice until cleaning him that he had a double beard which is a first for me.

21 1/2 lbs
10" & 5 1/2" beards
1 1/8" spurs
