Well I will be keeping and cooking the heart from now on. This was fabulous. Salt, pepper and pan fried in Kerrygold butter. WOW!!!

I have eaten the turkey heart every thanksgiving since I was a kid. No idea why I never tried the deer heart before.

Fried the heart from my last deer the same day I killed it. It to had a very faint liver taste to it. But since I like liver the heart was still delicious.

Always save the heart

those fajitas look great but for some reason i just cant do it. maybe its the nostalgia or something, i dont know, but ive eaten more disgusting things like squirrel heads(tongue, jawls and brains). but every time i think of eating hearts i just get nautious.

You can fix it the way you want, but to me it's a waste to do anything but pickle it. If a recipe "tastes like steak", then use steak. But only heart can taste like pickled heart.

When I have a jar of pickled heart in the fridge, when I get home from work I grab a fork and eat three or four pieces cold right from the jar. Great appetizer before a beer or a bourbon.

Had my first deer heart a couple days ago when the wifey unit was out shopping (read $$$).

Salt and pepper and then fried it in my carbon steel frying pan with olive oil. About 1 1/2 minutes per side - OH MY GOD!!!! Yea, I'll be doing that again!

You will find yourself trying to NOT shoot them in the heart from now on.

No doubt. Two deer yesterday but only got one heart. :(

I dropped one in the creek on Sunday. Sad panda.....

Dang thing just shot out of my hand. In my defense, it was cold out, and my dexterity was shot.

TN, how did you cut that up? The one heart I did, I cut across the horizontally and I got meat that looked like donuts (those heart chambers are pretty big!). So I'm looking to cut the next one up like you did yours.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I sliced it vertically. About 1/3" slices.
