Man O man its high,$25 for 50 lbs is about average Ive seen.No way I can put down what the seed recomendations are,or the soil test for that matter.I put down lime this spring,as much as I could. All by hand, almost 3000 lbs.Hoping that will help. But I know the oats or wheat will want that nitrogen.Im hoping to get by with the minimum, maybe put down a bag of 10 10 10 to help it ,wheat or oats, get started. What do ya'll think. How much you gonna spend on fertilizer this fall?I have 5 plots, totalling about 2.5 acres, maybe.Gonna try to get my oats satrted on those 2.5 acres with 100lbs if I can, maybe come back later with a little more.IM SPENT OUT!

I heard Friday a guys say that triple 10 at co-op was only $11 or so. I am calling today to verify. I feel the same way about fertilizer. I am hoping to put some down close to the stands that will be hunted out of. 9.5 tons of lime will hopefully help me out but I sure would like to fertilize like recommended.

I have 1 bag of 19-19-19 left. I am searching for some cheap 10-10-10 to get and stock up on...I dont think its going to be going down. Part of the cost of this every increasing expensive game we are in I guess.

We've put down 3,200 lbs this year and it cost $1,000.00 to do so. The last that we bought was a ton (40 - 50# bags) of triple 13 at CO-OP for 13.45 a bag.

According to Pennigton's website, most hunters put down way too much seed, and not enough fertilizer.

I use 0-46-0 and 0-0-60. No since in paying for the nitrogen in triple 10 or 15 if your planting does not call for it. AND,. if your mix has mostly clover in it,.. you sure don't need it!!

Woods farm supply in Byhalia MS. About 12 miles south of Collierville. I think the minimum is 10 bags to get that price.

There is a place in Tupelo that is selling 13-13-13 in 50# bags for just under 10 bucks per.....
We bought around 120 or more bags and hauled it back to Tn!

if you are leaving everything in the field[aka food plots] you can get by with less fertilizer or no fertilizer at all, farmers farm for income/maximum yeild, with a hunter the yeild is not as important

there is no need in getting caught up in the game of "over spending", do a test plot doing the following, 1/3 of plot with recommended fertilizer, 1/3 with minimum fertilizer, 1/3 with no fertilizer

if your plot will grow good weeds/grasses with no fertilizer, then do the common sense thingy and just think about it

good thought, but Im gonna put down a little,to get the oats going

i am putting down a little. last couple of years things germinate, then dont grow! weeds will, but what i plant wont really grow until spring. going to try a little fert this year.

If you have a tractor and enough food plots buy a ton from CO-OP and use a buggy to spread it. It's a whole lot cheaper. Trust me like $600.00 for the fertilizer and buggy.

Football Hunter the first place you might want to start is by taking a soil sample so see what your ph is and what your oil contains nutrient wise. You might have plenty of P and K to get the oats up and then topdress with about 150 lbs of 34-0-0 after it comes up. If you already have clover establised in the plot you eed to put out 50 - 75 lbs of 34-0-0 instead. If your P and K levels are low and you cant afford the fertilizer wait until spring since fertilizer prices are falling at this time.
