I tend to use slightly faster powders and like IMR 3031 with the 150s and Re7 with the 125 BTs. I have used IMR 4064 and Win 748 also. The .308 is very easy to load and most anything will work well in my experience. PH

H380 is a superb powder for my 308

I also have had very good results with 4064(IMR-dupont)

and also Accurate2230

sorry, I don't have the charge weights before me to share. Besides they may not work for you. My 788 has a 16-1/2" barrel and my loads my be differnt than what you need.

I will add: I never liked anything lighter than 125gr and nothing heavier than 165gr

I always wished they made a 140gr bullet for 30cal. I thought that would been the best bullet. Who knows, I never could find any that weight.

again, just my results

the sectional density would be very low for a 140 in .308

45gr Varget
165 Speer BTSP
CCI Br2 Primer
OAL 2.810
Devestating on deer and will touch each Otho
other at 100 yds
Minimum recoil
Use this load in both of my .308 for a couple of years

This is the load that my ruger likes so far. 5-shot groups of .38in.

165gr Nosler BT
44.5gr Reloader-15
CCI primer
Win neck-sized brass
COAL 2.810
light Lee factory crimp

This load is on the warm side on paper, work up to it safely.
Best of luck,

I`m working on a load for my model 7 308 and starting out with 150 Accubond and N140. I will test this tomorrow, along with plateau hunters suggested IMR3031. I loaded both powders at 43.5 grains, and the IMR3031 was compressed. I`m not much for compressed loads, but will see tomorrow how they shoot.

i had a VSSF a few years ago with 26 inch bbl,36XBR leupold scope,,at 500 yards it shot the 190 berger vld bullet and a casefull of imr4350 5 shots in under 3 inch groups with boring regularity.

it chronied pretty slow, but was very accurate at longer range, but it would just shoot fair at 100 yards, right at an inch most times,,
