I'm going to try some different ammo this year out of my .30-06. I've shot Remington Core-Lokt 165 grain for several years but I'm thinking about trying something different. I'm only interested in off-the-shelf ammo because I have no reloading equipment. What has been your favorite .30-06 shell for deer?

I will 2nd Mups 150g corelock, i will tell you they will leave a 4-5" bald spot on a deer if they are running and shoulder or ham muscle is working

165/168gr Nosler Partition or Nosler Ballistic Tip. If those 2 arent available then 165 sierra gameking.

The 165 is, in my opinion the perfect .30 caliber weight. Speed and recoil of a 150g load, power and in flight stability of a 180. best of both worlds. Ive stuck to this idea with every 30 caliber rifle ive ever owned, well except the browning abolt composite stalker .308 i used to have. Shot 150s in it but like everything else, it was reloads.

What are you hunting? What distance are you shooting?
