Took my bird out today for a bit and he ended up chasing and spiraling up and down the tree after 3 squirrels and then finally connected on one of them and come down with him, the squirrel ended up getting a good bite into yodas right leg but it didnt seem to fase him and he got mad and faught him more until I could get my hand around the squirrel to dispatch him. A good 400 gram squirrel. Will get some pics on when I can get them developed. Landon

I have watched hawks grab squirrel's a few times while hunting .I;ve also watched the eagles at Reelfoot fishing. Pretty cool stuff. Do you need a small game liscene for that ??Who ate the squirrel you or the falcon ??

You do have to have a hunting license, small game covers it but I always buy my sportsman for deer and duck hunting as well. But you also have to have a state and federal permit, and take a test and have your equipment inspected. I will get pics when I can, have to get them developed first. And he eats everything he catches. I could but it saves me money on his food.

Very cool. :)

Never heard of weighing a squirrel before. :)
Do you record that type of data so you will know when he is capable of catching bigger game?
Very interesting.

Ruger- I weigh my bird daily to do weight management on him since he has to be at a certain weight to fly and want to hunt. I also weigh the squirrels and rabbits just to get an idea of what size game he is catching. For instance my bird flys at 700grams(the smallest redtail I have seen) and he is catching game that is almost the same size as him.

Monteban- I have to get in there and if he cant handle the squirrel by himself I reach in with my gloved hand and break the neck. Alot safer for me and the bird than taking a knife to it.

Thats what I heard. I was going to go fly with him and Dale last weekend but didnt make it, doubt I will be able to this week either, Ive got ecoli food poisoning right now. Ive got a passage tiercel RT.
