So far I have seen a buck almost every day of hunting. All of them either came out with a doe or were actively after a doe with no other competiton from other bucks, at least that is how it appeared. Is this kind of odd? Do I have too many Doe s?

That is one data point that suggests you could stand to thin some does out, but I don't have any experience with a comprehensive "property survey", so perhaps some biologist-type folks will weigh in.

In my 11 years of deer hunting and of all the bucks I have killed, not 1 of them was with a doe. They was all by themselves.None of them was even following a doe.

I really don't think you can come to any conclusions about your local herd structure from just a few hunting observations during one year.

Im sure there are a ton of deer. These days Im the only person hunting about 400 acres and I have heard very few shot even remotely close, so the outside hunting pressure may be way less this year. Its about time to quit trophy hunting and start taking out doe for meat.

I wouldn't want to start "thinning" my herd based on a few hunts. I would want some more detailed observations from various places on the property. Just from what you said though it sounds like it may be a pretty balanced herd.
