I have sold off a couple of guns....nothing special....in order to clear up space.

I have two little boys so in a few years I will probably be hunting with both of them. So I am just selling guns that I don't see using to hunt, either just be or with both of them.

Up right now is a Spanish Mauser .308. Made during WWI as a 7mm, then rechambered to .308 and used in the Spanish Civil War. My father but it and another when the import ban was lifted 25 years ago. He gave it to me for Christmas and I killed my first 2 deer with it, including a nice buck that is mounted and was my best for the next 15 years. My father passed away 13 years ago, and it was one of 3 guns he gave me while alive. I got his modest collection when he died.

It is in great shape. It requires aiming low to the side because the sites can't be adjusted without altering the gun.

I put it up for sale at high price suspecting nobody would bite. An old collector gave me an offer. We couldn't quite meet. Now several days later he has a call into me.

I have the feeling if I sell it, I may regret it. But still would like to reduce the size of my collection and this one I am fairly certain will never be used again.

Keep it! I have my grandfathers ithaca 20 gauge and it is one of my prized possessions. Your boys will cherish this rifle one day, not because of the rifle itself, but because of the history of their grandfather it brings along with it.

Nope, I have guns I really don't much like for various reasons but I don't sell them. I have a built in check valve for gun purchasing I guess. Most everything else too. Have rarely ever sold anything.

keep it, if youre concerned about recoil for your kids then i know of a very light recoil handload I plan to use that still has great ballistics and recoil comparible to a .243

10 years from now your boys will be asking if their Grandaddy left any guns behind. Right now you can say "yes, lets get it out". If you sell it you'll have that empty gut feeling when they ask....and they will ask.

If you don't regret selling a gun, you ain't sold many. I've got several I regret selling, several I wish I would have bought, and several I wish I wouldn't have bought and couldn't sell fast enough!

I've traded and sold a lot of guns, but I'll never part with the ones that came from my Dad or grandpas.

I've toyed with the idea of selling my 7 mag, as I could really use the money. But then...I got a good deal on the rifle, it's a good rifle/caliber, and I just can't seem to part with it. The only way I would sell it is to buy another rifle in a different caliber.

Now if it was a family member's rifle, selling it would not even cross my mind.

This particulary rifle is a Spanish Mauser......fella offered me $225 which is not unreasonable but I waived off at this point.

I have several of my fathers guns that I would not consider selling.....2 coming from his father. Having shot my first to deer with this one in combination of coming from my father....I will continue to think about it realizing once it's gone I won't be able to get it back.

I've never regretted it, but I haven't sold many. I'm in the process of selling off a lot of mine to buy fewer, nicer guns that I'll actually shoot (maybe). :)

Yep I do.

Never sold one with sentimental value but there are two that immediately come to mind as for regrets.

Model 12 Winchester 16 gauge.
Marlin chambered in the 450 Marlin.

Wish I had them both back.

As for not buying, I had a chance to buy a Ruger Red Label from a teacher at UTM.
He bought it new and after shooting a Browning automatic for 30 years (quail hunter) the change in location of the safety made the gun unusable to him.
He said he would sell it to me for what he had in it. He shot it like 5 times.
Just couldn't swing that $500 at the time.

I've sold several that I wish I had back..........

A Winchester model 12 20 gauge
Remington 760 Gamemaster in 35 Rem.
A nice broomhandle Mauser
Colt series 70 1911 with satin finish
Stevens 311 double 16 gauge
Winchester 94 XTR in 7x30 Waters
Smith & Wesson model 1917 DA 45
Savage 242 o/u 410
Colt New Service 45 Colt
Swedish Mauser 6.5x55
Smith & Wesson model 29 44 mag
Smith & Wesson model 10 heavy barrel

I trade and sell quite frequenly, theres a few I wish I had back. Im to the point ive had or shot the majority of whats on the market so the funs winding down for me. As for selling something with sentimental value NO WAY. Youl never let yourself live it down.
