After 4 years of passing and eating buck tags on public I killed one opening morning just after daylight . Someone shot by me at 6:58 and I saw him making a scrape at 7:01. He wasn't the deer I was looking for and I thought he was a clean 10 and I have never killed one. Turned out he was a 9 I was hoping would make it through the season that I had on camera last week a mile away from where I killed him Yesterday. Oh well lol. You don't get many opportunities in big woods public and weekends so I'm thankful for the deer the Lord gave me. It did feel good to touch one again. 4 years is a drought. The angle of the entry and exit wasn't ideal and he ran a long way bedding 4 times . I was tickled with my tracking job. I had thought I wouldn't find him but stuck with him until I did.
Public land 9 point field dressed 122 pounds.
I couldn't find my gambrel and my skinning tree was cutdown so I had to get creative how I hung him.
