It seems that the TWRC is about to shorten the archery season for bear in Tennessee, which I know doesn�t affect most of you, but to some of us East Tennessee hunters, it is important. I know everyone isn't happy about us having the opportunity to harvest a bear with a bow, say while deer hunting, but, think about it, what a great just-by-chance opportunity it is�no dogs, no bait, just being in an area where bears and deer frequent, and maybe getting to tag a bear!
The TWRC has asked for input http://news.tennesseeanytime.org/node/5219 from the public on this issue after they have already announced the reduced schedule�so maybe there is hope that they will restore the full initial segment of archery deer season as bear season again. Here is a list of links to the TWRC members if you�d like to let them know directly how you feel�hopefully that would be to allow us to hunt bears as I have already described http://www.state.tn.us/twra/comnames.html. I�ve got a feeling some influential people/groups have already made their case, which is likely why the season is at risk of being shortened. Maybe the simplest thing to do is email this message or your message to the link provided in the TWRA link above, which is mailto:[email protected]
To help make it easier, you could just copy and paste the following list of commissioner email address to your email browser then copy the following message to the message line and title the email Archery bear season. All of the commissioners don�t list email address, so if you�d like, a phone call to the listed contact info will do good too. I�d sure like to see the commissioners flooded with input to help restore the bear season. Only a small percentage of bears are harvested by bow compared to by the chase-with-dog-and-shoot method (of which I am not opposed).

Please vote to allow the full reinstating of the Tennessee Archery Bear Season as it has been for the last couple of years rather than shortening it as proposed for 2010. I appreciate your consideration in this matter.
