Agree with Mr. Hall; Japanese millet. Cut you a little trench and drain as much as you can. Going into the dry part of the year it might just be perfect timing if its low and stays damp in there.

If you plant Jap. Millet it doesn't compete well with grass and weeds. The way to control grass and weeds keep the water level just under the bottom leaves on the millet. Millet doesn't require fertilizer

We hand broadcasted rice in about 6" of water several years back. It was some of the best stuff I ever had grow!

Did this actually work decent ? I'm trying to find something to plant but I can't drain the water off my area. I basically have a natural swamp filled with buck brush and willows . Water don't usually drain down to mud until like mid August.
If rice will grow decent ill buy a bag
