I use the nitrogen fertilizer to sidedress my vegetables after they are growing. You don't want much nitrogen fertilizer on legumes (beans,peas,peanuts). I think if you apply it now and don't plant until May you will lose a lot of it.

Chapman is right, CV,if we have a lot of rain before May, you will lose a lot of N. Soil tests you send to Extension (and A&L)do not test for soil N because it changes so rapidly.
