Bought new scopes for my cva optima and remington model 760 .308. Both are 50mm so i need new high mounts. Anyone have any pro/cons to these DNZ mounts. Game reaper is what I was looking at.

I have several of them, and they are built like a tank. They are not the cheap cast aluminum, they are CNC machined out of a solid monolithic(redundant)block of aluminum. The screws are VERY "beefy". If I was not going to use steel rings and mounts, this would be what I used. I have sevaral rifles with high recoil and they have held up great. They weigh very little, and being one-piece, you don't have to worry about alignment issues unless there is something really out of whack with your bore concentricity. Oh, by the way, I mounted a 44mm scope in the low mounts so you will probably be able to get away with the medium DNZ so the scope is not sitting way above your sight line.

Solid as a rock. Well worth their price. Take your gun and scope to bass pro in memphis and see what the lowest mount you can use is. They are the same price there as they are anywhere else.

The service guy at DNZ said he needed the OD and length of each scope to help me find the right height mount. Excuse my ignorance but what is OD and how do I find it?

Outside Diameter or Objective Diameter, measure with a set of calipers. If you don't have a set a tape measure will do.

How do they compare to Talleys?

I have Talleys as well. I heave to lap the Talleys to keep them from marking up my scopes. The DNZs barely leave any mark at all. Don't get me wrong, Talleys are great, I just tend to give the edge to the DNZs.
