Anyone have any tips on rigging up a line of divers?

I am thinking a long heavy cord with a brick on one end and then attach the decoys with slightly different length strings to the main line so they will be in line but not TOO perfect of a straight line.

Just wondering the best / easiest way to attach the decoys as you let the line out?

I leave mine attached and store them in a tote. If placed in the tote properly they are easy to deploy.

Do you use a weight on both ends or just one?

I make a trotline with a window weight on each end, store them in a slotted decoy bag. I have 2 of these lines with 2 decoys per slot for when I have a good amount of divers in the area and help putting them out. If I am by myself I usually toss out the same rig with half a dozen buffleheads and a weight on only 1 end. Most of the times puddle ducks or whatever will land in my 6 buffleheads that free flow instead of my mallard decoys.

Have you looked at the raft rigs? Basically decoys are attached to a big piece of netting and hat sits under the water and it looks like the birds are rafted up. Works best in big water. Really effective for some guys I know who shoot divers on the coast of NC.

Go to doctari longlines, and order whichever rig you think would be best. Less than 50$, and you got everything you need for diver line, minus weights. I use them old window weights from back in the day, and clip em on each end. Bought mine few years ago, and couldn't be happier. The clips that come with em are awesome. It was just easier for me to buy, than try to rig up something.
