Deer with a mane

I got my deer back that I killed during muzzleloader season. I didn't realize it but it has a mane. The taxidermist said he had only seen about 10 in his 40 years in the business. I need to get a better picture of it.

I have 1 also, BSK said it's about `1 in 10,000 if I am remembering correctly, I think he said his first buck also has 1.

We had a lot of trail cam pics of a nice young 8 with a mane last year, I saw the deer a couple times and passed on him. His mane ran a good ways, and was pretty pronounced. Hope he made it through and is back around this year.

Congratulations on the nice buck. I have to admit though, when I read the title to this thread I thought it was going to be about a European red stag.

Thanks. I would have thought the same thing. Until the taxidermist called and told me about my deer, I had no idea that a white tail deer could have a mane. I had to google it.
