Every year happens the same time. Right before last weekend. Go into a funk like someone has shot my dog.
Sure, there is the "lets get ready for next year"- stuff to do- but it ain't the same.
I'll lock the blind up for the last time, sweep it out and call it a year.
We used to call it bow hunters depression- but it has morphed into some a little more than just bow hunting.
I'm sure looking forward to next year already :super:

I have a lot of hunting to do this week and hope to get out once or twice for the doe private land hunt next week. Then I will become depressed when it is all over and I look back on the season.

Season's end is bittersweet... you hate to see it end but if you've hunted hard since opening, you're usually tired and glad for it to end. Give the deer a break. Give yourself a break. It'll be here again before you know it. Meanwhile, take inventory of everything you learned this year and mentally prepare yourself for whatever strategies you can start off with next go round.

Yep, I'm already starting to miss it as well, Sunday will be it for me because I work all next week and live 2 hours from unit L.... On the bright side I always look forward to the stores putting their hunting inventory on clearance at season's end. Always a great time to grab another stand or camera you felt could have been useful this past season.

I usually start thinking about chasing turkey. They help take the edge off deer season ending for me.

Although I've not hunted as hard this year as in years past, i'm kinda glad to see the end in sight. Now I won't feel guilty sleeping a little later some mornings and spending time in the wood shop. It's also a good time to take a walk in the woods and see what I missed while sitting 20+ feet up in a tree.
Turkey season will be here before ya know it!!

Good riddance to 2015 deer season. Take the crazy warm weather and excessive rain with you and don't ever come back! ;)

Ditto. But I will go out and hunt at least once more this weekend.

No depression here. Kinda glad its over. In 35 plus year of deer hunting Ive never seen such diverse weather. It really seemed to affect deer movement. Just makes me look forward to next season. I enjoy the getting ready for each deer season.

Kind of feel the same. I just chalked the season up learning experiences and will do a lot of post season scouting, on different properties to not put all my eggs in one basket. I'm planning on doing some things different next year, like having some east wind stand sites, and hunting browse heavy stands I can count on, as well as the typical oak flats that, as this year proved, don't always produce for very long.

I like the stuff that goes on sale after the season has ended. This year was different for me- as I didn't get much bow hunting time due to work.
Coyote hunting sound like a great idea as well!!!!!
(still bummed lol!)

bums me out as well but like others have said this year has been of the charts warm as long as I can ever remember. and I look forward to putting out salt and cameras and scouting all year. that's half the fun to me. and next up is TURKEYS!!!!!!

I've never been able to get into turkeys down here (moved from Michigan 12 yrs ago)- the snakes creep me out lol!!
Oh- and GO STATE tonight against Bama!- taking lots of heat today from my Bama brothers at work ha ha ha....

love to see it end. so many other things to do and hunt. need to get to deer hunters off a lot of my coyote farms. love squirrel and rabbit hunting as well and turkey is just around the corner. also, time to start training for the music city marathon, which is easier if I don't sit in a cold tree all morning. our deer season is just so long. haven't shot a deer all year. will probably kill a couple this weekend with the cold weather.

I'm gonna take a few weeks off and get out and scout a few different WMA's. I'd love to go this weekend but unfortunately I woke up sick yesterday morning.

I'm ready for season to end right after Thanksgiving, have trees to plant, fruit trees to prune (150) or more, firewood to cut, run trail cams, crappie fish, growing yugoake mushrooms etc,
