We I was wore the hell out from getting these does out.
Decided to set up between 2 fields again. Has some activity about 3 30 pm mama and little on came out and fed for a bit. Then eased back in. Well about 430 4 does step out about 128 yds. I hammered the biggest doe she dropped a few minutes later another good doe stepped out 170 yds. I hammered her but ill be danged she ran. Well about 20yds off the field and 5 yds in the woods. I hate it when they run but do love the sound when they crash.
I got down drug her out of woods for the pics. This is where it gets good. Mike Bomb was at my land in Dickson and texted do you need help getting them out. I said naw I do this all the time. What a dummy.
I get the 4 wheeler unloaded and noticed the winch was acting funny. No bigger zoom back to the far field. Get the front end loader thing out hook the winch up no dice. I was like what the heck. So it was kind of in the extend postion so I said heck with it I will load. Then I violated my number 1 rule I don't haul guts. I always gut where they lay but since mike would be hunting the field some over the holidays I figured Id gut on the far side of the farm
Well with all the weight on the front the ole 4 wheeler was in a tissy . and the deer were dragging low because I couldn't wench them up. So I head out crossing the first creek no big deal just a little deer dunk. I get up to the big creek crossing. It is steep and deep. I said I better go backwards. Going down was no biggie but apparently it had flooded from the rain and was muddy on the bank up. Well the bigger doe was in the far front. Well she goes under water the back of the 4 wheeler in the air it was touch and go 4 wheeler started spinning throwing mud every where snap one deer goes off in creek I go up the bank. Had to wade out to get deer drag a deer up the muddy embankment reload it and limp to the truck where I gutted them near the parking area. What a dang mess lol
