I do on occasion. Especially with kids. I don't think they work as well for me as some people do. I don't remember killing one over a decoy but I do remember getting caught setting them out for my dad. I laid down flat and held the decoy up and called the turkey back in for him to shoot him. That's the only time I remember it working.

That's how I killed my first turkey! 😂

I wont say Ive never used them because I have in the past. I grew up hunting bama and they were illegal so actually never really knew it was a thing till I moved to TN YEARS ago.

Also wont say I will never use them again cause who knews depending on the situation (kids, elderly people, etc)

I dont like using them, I dont like carrying them around, I dont like the idea behind them, and I REALLY dont like carrying them around :)

Its just not a hunting style I like, I just dont like putting my eggs in 1 basket and 1 spot. I like to be VERY mobile and I like to make quick decisions and not be hampered buy something external. If I get a bird to gobble after they are on the ground I REALLY dont like trying to fool with putting one out, I prefer to get where I want to go and get set up and quick as possible. I prefer the idea that IF Im successful its due to the decisions I made, the set up I made, and the calling I made and not some plastic form out in front of me.

I have tried them in the past.. I've had birds flare off, coyotes come in on them and a hawk swooped in and carried one off..
That said-no I don't fool with them at all now..
I guess they are good for hunting in a field, in a blind, using TSS with a scoped shotgun gun with a tactical grip..😎

I hate carrying them so no I don't use them. That said I have in the past and not sure it helped or not. Maybe in an open field. When the pretty boy strutters first came out probably 20 or more years ago I knew somebody that said it worked like a charm so I decided to try it. My conclusion was I was hunting a bunch of sissy birds because every one that saw it ran the other way so I never used it again. I carried a single hen for a while when on a field but gave that up years ago too.

Not gonna say I've never used them and still will given certain circumstances, however when I am pretty much a self, trial and error, YouTube taught turkey hunter so it was what I knew when I was a kid. However I think part of the natural progression of being a turkey hunter/woodsman is to make the bird hunt you without a decoy. My wife has a handful of gobblers under her belt now and says she is done with decoys. Nothing against people who do use and rely on them though

Never found that they helped me. Also never used a strutter decoy. Have killed birds with them out. The last one was in 2020 and I had my daughter with me. I knew we were limited. Never used one since. Now I don't own one.

I also had a hawk swoop down and fly off with a foam decoy about 30 years ago. I had two closing the distance in full strut when it happened. They immediately broke strut and took off. Would have made for a cool video.

Only time I used one I was working a bird. He went silent on me and I could hear the leaves moving under the hill. Then I see a head….what the heck….yep. Called in the neighbors chickens. 4 of them to be exact. Never did see or hear the gobbler again that day.

I gave all mine away to some young boys except for one hen. I'm gonna break it out when I have my son with me to see if that helps. But…with that said. Now yall see why I needed a volunteer lol.
