Had an opening day that will be unforgettable!! The deer movement this morning was unbelievable to say the least, can not even begin to recollect the number of deer seen much less bucks! Buck sighting out number the doe 3:1.Granted all but one were "dinks" but the action started as soon as my rear hit the seat, so dark still I could only tell they were bucks because they looked like beagle dogs trailing a wabbit !lol
Then came the wad of longbeards, watched them for a bit until two yotes decided they were ready for a Thanksgiving meal.....Not on my watch
the 243 wssm barked dropping both were they stood, male and a female !!
At 1400 hrs we find ourselves (nephew tagged along with me this time) back in the stand, not a lot of action but what an enjoyable evening ! Well about 16:10 nephews spots the puddy cat about 70 yards behind us and I give him the go ahead to shoot. He says "i'm gonna shoot it in the head its all I can see" I respond with a "fine jus don't miss" !! He shoots and bingo, kitty cat down 21 lb female I have to give him credit, he is a cracker jack of a shot for an eleven year old. I generally shoot all my doe in the neck and I guess over the years him hunting with me he has picked up my habit. He knows when its ethical and when its not, kinda proud of him !!
Anyhow no deer taken today but to me 3 predators in one day is better than nothing at all, I'll take it again tomorrow for that matter !!
