I just ordered myself a new CVA Wolf from Bud's. Going to be using Blackhorn 209. Any recommendation on bullet sabot combos? probably going to start with a 250 grain. Just looking for a place to start. Thanks

My wolf likes 90 grains of blackhorn 209 with a 185 grain C.O.P. Bullet with a short black harvester sabot, will absolutely drive a tack!!!!

Where you getting your C.O.P bullets at? I see Midway is sold out.

i shoot tc shockwave 250 grain bullets with loose grain pyrodex 90 grain.i never could get consistency with using pellets or shooting 150 grain.granted i hunt close range 10-60 yards are my common shots and never had any issues.good luck ,just got to shoot and see what works for you.

Thanks all. going to start with the 185 COP, 240gr Scorpion gold Partition, and I will pick up some powerbelts also. That should get me started. Will also look at some Horandy SST

Be sure to pick up the correct breech plug for BH209. The factory does not like Bh209 .

I ordered the BH209 breech plug with the gun :tu: Now just need to find some BH209 and primers. Hopefully bass pro will have them.

UK picked up a wolf on close out for $150 last year as a back up to my Optima.

It shoots as good as my Optima. I've shot so many different loads through it and it shoots everything really well.

The .452 bullets in the MMP short black sabots and the .458 300 Gr in either the Orange MMP or the Harvester Crusjed ribbed shoot really well too. I am leaning towards switching out to the .458 in all my muzzleloading .50 cal just because I like the idea of shooting a rifle bullet at big game vs shooting a pistol bullet. After all these muzzle loaders are really cranking these bullets out at rifle speeds and not pistol speeds. So why not use a bullet at which sped it was designed for?
